A coastal village, full of history
A coastal village, full of history
In the 17th and 18th century when herring were plentiful in Cardigan Bay, Aberporth had at least 20 full time herring smacks until the demise of the herring stocks. Today, fishing in Aberporth is on a much smaller scale, with lobster and crab being the main catches.
The former fishing village of Aberporth is now a great place for a traditional family beach holiday with a beautiful Blue Flag beach. The tranquil and neighborly atmosphere of this seaside village, along with its two golden beaches, make Aberporth a wonderful destination for holidays at any time of the year.
Worlds first plastic-free village
Worlds first plastic-free village
Our community strengths have truly ran true, as we have become the world's first plastic-free community, thanks to Plastic-free Aberporth, an initiative led by local resident and filmmaker Gail Tudor. Here at the Penrallt, we have undertaken a grand commitment to decrease its environmental footprint and increase the sustainability of the services it offers.
