St. David's Day - March, 2020

A true Welsh celebration

To celebrate the patron Saint David, the Penrallt Country House hosted a delicious 3-course meal with a Welsh twist. Fresh daffodils were dotted throughout our open dining room, bringing a true Spring-time feel to the hotel. The skies were blue and the weather was light for this celebratory day.

The day was accompanied by the beautiful sound of the harp played by Sarah Jane Absalom. Sarah is a professional harpist and pianist who carries out musical engagements throughout Wales. She studied piano performance and harpsichord at the Royal College of Music and is now an honorary representative at the Royal Schools of Music, London.

Our head chef Lee Groves created a spectacular St.David’s Day menu which included starters ranging from Leek Soup with Rarebit Crostini to our very own Penrallt Chowder. For the mains we were proud to have reared our meat dishes from the land belonging to the hotel for our Rear Topside of Dewi James Beef and Roast Shoulder of Dewi James Pork; both served with Tracklements. Finally for the desserts we zoned in on some of Wales’ best sweet treats from Welsh Cakes with Penderyn Whiskey Custard to Lemon and Laverbread Posset with Barti Ddu Rum Spiced Bananas.

We truly enjoyed having our guests over to celebrate our national’s day. Until next year!
